Storing and Handling Research Peptides

Research peptides are sensitive materials. How a vial is stored and handled in the lab is a quality variable in its own right. This is general handling information for research use only — not medical, dosing, or administration guidance.

Lyophilized (powder) storage

In lyophilized (freeze-dried) form, most research peptides are comparatively stable. Kept sealed, cool, and dry — and protected from light — many remain suitable for laboratory use for extended periods.

A freezer is commonly used for long-term storage of unopened lyophilized vials; a refrigerator is typical for shorter horizons. Always defer to the specifications and Certificate of Analysis for the specific compound and batch.

Reconstituted storage

Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, a peptide solution is generally held refrigerated (commonly 2–8 °C) and used within the window appropriate to that compound.

Repeated freeze–thaw cycles are typically avoided, as they can degrade peptide structure. Keep solutions away from direct light and heat.

Sterile, careful handling

Treat vials as you would any laboratory reagent: clean work surface, intact seals, and careful technique. Inspect solutions for clarity and the absence of particulates before use in research.
